Tidal Talk.

Tidal, Tidal, Tidal, that's all people have been talking about over the past few months. Everyday there is a new rumor about what's going on over there at Tidal. For those of you who don't know Tidal is a streaming company that is NOT owned by Jay-Z. That's right despite all of what people have said, Jay-Z doesn't own it, he is a partner of the company. This means Jay-Z isn't the only one controlling what goes on at Tidal. Although, he takes all the heat for what goes on at Tidal. 


Recently, there has been rumors of Drake pulling out of his deal with Tidal to pursue a deal with Apple for $19 million. Of course, that is all alleged. Actually, this figure has been denied by a source Billboard spoke with. "Apple doesn't normally pay artists for those types of collaborations," the source said. I think people are being really harsh to the Tidal service. They are doing whatever they can to break the company down and make sure it is unsuccessful. Tidal isn't the first service to charge for streaming, but it is the first service to represent artists directly. Tidal basically allows everything to go directly through the artists.Which is great, but many people haven't been receptive to that.

I like what Tidal has started which is making these other streaming services such as Spotify and Pandora WORK. Over the past few months Spotify has implemented so many new things. Spotify will soon have videos and more streaming for opportunities for more artists. Apple also wants in and is set to premiere their new streaming service soon. While people may be opposed to the Tidal streaming service its impact has been undeniable, companies are doing more and consumers are wanting more. Tidal is making these companies uncomfortable and getting people talking. Before Tidal no one challenged what the companies offered we all just kind of accepted it.

 Jay-Z is a big part of Tidal and he will not go down without a fight. People who don't like Jay-Z of course don't like Tidal. However, you can't stop someone who has a vision. Jay is known for a lot of thing but failure isn't one of them, he always rises to the challenges. If people and media stops bashing Tidal because of who's involved in it and actually take some time to see what Tidal represents that might actually like it.
